This work is co-operate logo for an organization called “Centre for Visual Communication research”. The logo is made “C” vector shape, suggesting “centre”. Inside the C shape is an arc and a circular vector shape with a small part cut-off at its top right hand part and a bar at the opposite of the cut-off part of the circle giving an illusion of a magnifying glass and an eyeball with a light reflection together suggesting “visual and research”. Adjacent to the diagonal part on top of this circular shape are three arcs in different sizes suggesting communication.
The purpose of this poster is to educate teenage JHS students about teenage pregnancy. This artwork depicts a pregnant teenage school girl in uniform standing beside a signboard with inscriptions “there is nothing so painful and shameful like teenage pregnancy; abstain from pre- marital sex” in front of a school compound. This pregnant girl has a hand bag with books; crying with tears from her eyes and a hand put in the mouth.
In this artwork, varying shapes and sizes are smudged to blend into tonal variations of colours, together creating a high sense of harmony and realism.
The mood and the posture of this pregnant girl with tears from the eyes project the message more on how painful and shameful teenage pregnancy is as shown in the poster.
The colour of the uniform of the school girl with her trimmed down hair and the colour of the school building behind her are reminiscent of some of the JHS schools in Ghana which indicates that the targeted audience of this work are JHS teenage students in Ghana.
Both the logo and the poster deserve award because they are very simple, brief, precise, expressive, and more convincing.
Facebook has become one of the popular social media platform patronized by many people in the world today. It is one of the platforms that host many of the youth around the world who make friends, meet love ones, educate themselves and sometimes entertain themselves. In fact, the greater percentage of the youth who had subscribed to Facebook visit the page two or three time a day waiting for updates and news.
I hereby suggest this poster to be pasted on Facebook pages to educate teenagers since this platform promises to be the most reliable source of social information among the youth. This will facilitate effective spreading of the message on how shameful and painful teenage pregnancy is and caution the youth to abstain from pre-marital sex.
