  • Kofi Opoku
    Lecturer at West Virginia University

    Kofi received his MFA from West Virginia University and his BFA from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana in 2003. His specialties include web and interaction design, and computer animation. He is interested in design as a material for inspiring behavior change, and his research has led him to explore ways by which human-computer interaction can aid understanding of social issues and other complex subjects. Kofi served as an Art Director at Origin8 Saatchi, the Ghana affiliate of the global advertising firm Saatchi and Saatchi. His work spans a wide range of media including print, video, web and interaction design. In 2010, he was the recipient of an international poster design award on world sanitation.

  • Dr Catherine Stones
    Lecturer at University of Leeds

    Catherine is a lecturer in Graphic Design at University of Leeds. She teaches a variety of subjects including information design, digital design and visual communications in general. She is currently Programme Manager for the BA Hons Graphic Design and Visual Communication. She supervises PhD students working in the area of health communication and graphic design as well as projects related to participatory design and information design. She is an AHRC Design Fellow and is currently working on a year-long AHRC funded project with Public Health England about the use of infographics in engaging public audiences. She also has an interest in illustration and its use in the telling of personal narratives.

  • Dr Dian Li
    Lecturer at University of Leeds

    Dian is a lecturer in Graphic Design and Study Abroad Coordinator. Her role at University of Leeds mainly involves teaching, research and some management responsibilities. She has been working with MA design students in a broad range of subjects including interactive media, App design, web design, animation and illustration etc. She also teach on the BA Graphic Design and Visual Communication on all levels. The two PhD projects she is currently supervising are about the simplification of graphics and digital fashion simulation. Her research interest lies mostly within the Graphic communication and information communication area, including Product instruction design, Typography and emotions also Chinese typography. As the study abroad coordinator, She is responsible for building and retaining links between our school and similar departments from different universities around the world.

  • David Appiah
    Freelance Design Consultant

    David is a seasoned creative with over 12 years’ experience working across advertising, digital and direct marketing, he has worked for leading agencies such as RAPP, VividBrand/Publicis, LIDA/M&C Saatchi, RPM and Digicraft. David is an alumnus of Prempeh College and KNUST (Design 2003) and loves creative work that strikes a clear balance between aesthetics and functionality. He is presently a self-employed design consultant and contracts across London. David was recently credited with a Silver Big Bus Challenge 2014 award for his work with RAPP on a regional bus campaign for Virgin Media. His clients include: Virgin Media, Virgin Holidays, Land Rover, Hastings Direct, Liberty Global, PayPal, Barclays, RBS/Natwest, Boots, Compare the Market, Coca Cola, Canon, Orange, O2, Tommy Hilfiger, Bacardi, Mini and Vertu.
